Safety Tips
Effective Date: July 3, 2026
Meeting new people is exciting, but your safety comes first. These tips apply whether you are chatting, planning a date, or meeting in person through Flow.
1. Before You Chat
- Review a profile carefully; be cautious of profiles with very few photos or inconsistent details.
- Keep conversations inside the App at first rather than moving to other messaging apps or phone numbers right away.
- Trust your instincts — if something feels off, it probably is.
2. Protect Your Personal Information
- Do not share your home address, workplace, financial details, or full daily routine early on.
- Never send money, gift cards, or cryptocurrency to someone you have not met in person, no matter the story.
- Be wary of anyone who avoids video calls or in-person meetings while asking for financial help.
3. Meeting in Person
- Choose a public place for a first meeting and arrange your own transport.
- Tell a friend or family member where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back.
- Use the in-app date planner and location-share feature so someone you trust can see where you are.
- Stay sober enough to make good decisions, and keep your phone charged.
4. Red Flags
- Pressuring you to move quickly, isolate from friends, or send money.
- Refusing to verify their identity or video-call before meeting.
- Inconsistent stories, or a profile that seems too good to be true.
5. Report and Get Help
Use the in-app report and block features for any user who makes you uncomfortable. In an emergency, contact local emergency services immediately.
