Safety Tips

Effective Date: September 27, 2026

Meeting new people is exciting, but your safety comes first. These tips apply whether you are chatting, planning a date or meeting in person through Flow.

Please note: Flow does not conduct criminal background checks on its members, and a verification badge only means that a member passed our identity check. Always take your own precautions.

1. Before You Meet

  • Take your time. Read the profile carefully and be careful with profiles that have few photos or details that do not add up.
  • Keep the conversation in Flow at first. The App warns you before you share a phone number or bank details.
  • Use a First Impression video call to check that the person is who they say they are.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, it probably is.

2. Protect Your Personal Information

  • Do not share your home address, workplace, financial details or daily routine early on.
  • Never send money, gift cards or cryptocurrency to someone you have not met, whatever the story.
  • Be careful with anyone who avoids video calls or meetings but asks for help with money.

3. Meeting in Person

  • Meet in a busy public place and arrange your own transport.
  • Save an emergency contact in Settings. On a planned date, use the safety button to send them where you are, who you are meeting and when.
  • Stay sober enough to make good decisions, keep your phone charged, and leave whenever you want to.

4. Red Flags

  • Pressure to move fast, to keep things secret, or to cut off friends.
  • Refusing to video call or verify before meeting.
  • Stories that change, or a profile that seems too good to be true.
  • Any request for money, investments or financial help.

5. Report and Get Help

Report and block anyone who makes you uncomfortable, directly from their profile or the chat. Our team reviews every report. In an emergency, call your local emergency number straight away. The Safety Centre in the App has more guides.
