Flow is restricted to users aged 18 and over. This Policy describes how we check age. Our broader eligibility rule is set out in the Age Restriction Policy (18+).
1. Date of Birth at Sign-Up
Every user must enter their date of birth when creating an account. If the date shows the user is under 18, the account cannot be created. Once confirmed, the date of birth cannot be changed in the App, and the age shown on a profile is calculated from it automatically.
2. Device Age Signals
Where available, we use the age signals that Apple and Google provide at device level. If they indicate that the user of the device is under 18, the user is signed out and cannot use Flow. We use this signal once, at that moment, and never store it.
3. Optional Identity Verification
Users can choose to verify their identity with a government-issued ID document and a live selfie, carried out by our verification partner Didit. A successful verification also confirms that the user was at least 18. Verification is optional and is not required to use Flow. See our Verification & Badge Policy.
4. If Age Cannot Be Confirmed
If our checks or a report indicate that a user may be under 18, the account is suspended pending review and, if confirmed, deleted in line with our Data Retention Policy.
5. Data Handling
Age information is used only for eligibility and safety. Apart from the age shown on your profile, it is not shared with other users, and it is never used for advertising. See our Privacy Policy and Data Security Policy.
